The percentage increases by grade. In 1999, 65% of 12th graders had sexual intercourse compared with 39% of 9th graders. *47% of all teens say they have done something sexual or have felt pressure to do something sexual that they did not feel ready to do. Teenage girls are more likely to have these experiences than teen boys. *Only 1/3 of teens turn to their parents for advice regarding sexual issues, WOW!! Teen girls are more likely to do this than teen boys. *The majority of teens turn to siblings and friends regarding sexual issues. Young girls are more likely to get their information from magazines. *Only 2/3 of sexually experienced teens (66%) have discussed birth control with their sexual partner. 1/3 (34%) say they never had such a conversation.
